Combining characters and worlds from the FF Fantasy and Dragon Quest worlds with the addictive board-game strategy of the Itadaki Street series,
Final Dragon for Fantasy Quest was a modest success on the PS2 last year,
and now it's been released to the PSP with the expected "Portable" attached to the name.
Basic gameplay remains true to the Monopoly-like Itadaki Street series, which has been around in Japan since the days,
although minus the crossover selling point.
The first thought on everyone's mind was some sort of Dragon Quest and FF Fantasy in Itadaki Street Portable.
The turn-based game takes place on a board, and has up to four players spinning dice to move their pieces around.
Land on an empty square, and you can choose to open up a shop.
Players who subsequently land on that square will have to pay you a fee.
Your goal is to either bankrupt other players or reach a preset investment goal.
There's plenty of strategy for building up your bank or destroying your rivals.
In addition to opening up shops, you can invest your cash in stock, purchasing shares in sections of the board, thus driving up prices.
You can also sell stock in sections of the board, ruining rival investments By landing on your own shop multiple times,
you can fortify it, making the pass-through charge rise in the process.
You can also trade shops with rivals or buy out a rival shop, if you're willing to fork over the usually hefty cash.
You also have the ability to set up different types of shops, each with different effects.
The game also has all the random happenings you'd expect of a board game. Some squares have special effects.
One square makes all your shops go on vacation until your next turn comes around, giving rival players free pass.
Other "Chance" squares give the opportunity to collect cards for increased money, or open up a roulette wheel for modifying stock prices.
A special casino square takes you to one of four mini games.
You'll also find special warp squares, and squares that increase or decrease your current savings.
