Far above the vast fields, humble villages and winding mines sprawls a vast arena marked for the adventurers. The warriors. The heroes. High above the blocky world, the training grounds loom above all like a cathedral of sorts, the high, distant ceiling barely visible through a swirling veil of rusty cloud: winged; serpentine; vast.

You have spent many days staring up at that floating island, dreaming of the day when you can cease your apprentice at the farm with your father and be of age to join the elite warriors who test their strength and skill in a battle to end all battles. Sometimes, while you tend the fields, you can hear the distant clash of metal against metal or the resounding boom of gunfire. On one occasion, you experienced a drop of blood that plummeted from the sky from a defeated warrior-- too weak to become one of the elite.

The years pass. As you've grown, you've spent any free time you have training in secret for the day when you can take the ultimate test of endurance and strength. Then it happens. On the morning of your birthday, you suit up and embark on the journey to the floating island arena to enlist.

It's not for the faint of heart, you are informed. It's a brutal test, and if you fail, your life will be forfeited. Only those truly gifted survive. Only the best become champions of the realm. Without a second thought, you sign your life away, determined to survive these series of tests. For too long you have merely dreamed. Today you will become a hero.
